Underneath the bulky armor, Diaclois was sweating heavily. not from the run, but from the fear. He knew that he had nothing to fear. He was a space marine, one of the emperor's chosen! he could run marathons and not be tired. He could withstand the assault of one hundred men!
But still he was afraid. His enhanced senses could hear every individual bullet, and if he took one wrong step, his head would be pierced by the missiles. He heard two sniper shots fire in rapid succession, which got him thinking about the situation he was in.
Why did I get promoted? I'm a coward, and a weakling. he thought. I'd rather be up there, sniping, or in the cockpit of a land raider. Safe and protected. Ah well. Bringing his bolter up, he fired at the heretic's in the building. He hoped Commander Rallus would give them something to do. Not that it mattered. Diaclois would still probably die. Sigh. He refocused his attention on the enemies, still mumbling.

Julius continued to pour supressing fire into the windows of building 2 until as the scouts ran past him into building. He ducked in after them just in time to meet Calpurniusrunning the other way holding a live grenade still clutched in the severed hand of a heretic who lay dead on the stairs.
Julius ducked to one side as the young scout threw the grenade past him out of the door less than a second before it detonated throwing smoke and shrapnel back through the door to rattle of his armour. He quickly dropped the empty mag from his bolter and reloaded as Calpurnius and Taranius traded jokes, an understandable reaction to such a close brush with death, but they didn't have time to hang around.
"OK, thats enough self congratulation. Taranius, Raziel go up one floor and find firing spots where you can see the roof of building 2. Once its clear of hostiles, relocate to a position where you can cover the northern side of the street and suppress their support weapons. Calpurnius Your with me"
Julius didn't wait for a response, trusting that the scouts would follow his orders. He moved rapidly through the building with his bolter up and ready, there was no garauntee the building was clear. Once he reached the northern side he selected a window facing the Administratum block.
"Calpurnius, start putting fire on those windows. Shoot anything that isn't wearing an aquilla, I'll cover your back"
Julius went back to the door and sighted back down the hallway to building ones main entrance, in case of flank attacks.

Kraytirous glanced over to the left, noticing his fellow battle brother. Amores was his name. Kraytirous remembered when he first met the man, his choppy brown hair reminding him of his own. The man's yellow eyes were disturbing, probably just a genetic mutation. They were common enough in the Imperium's strange aristocracy. But this mutation was not a dangerous one. Merely something to make the man unique. Another thing that Kraytirous found strangely different about Amores was his composure. Most Astartes walked around with a practiced stance. Amores' stance was slightly resembling of that of the training manuals, but was clearly made less fluent by another factor. Maybe this was the brother-marine's first battle?
Kraytirous spoke into his short-range comm, winking his eyes in a particular pattern to switch the frequency towards Brother Amores. "Brother, the Emperor's work needs to be done. Come, more heretics lay this way. Ones that we can purge first hand." Kraytirous' voice was oddly calm. He hefted his heavy bolter, having stopped firing the massive gun minutes ago. He turned to march to the North East, the same position he was beckoning Amores to follow him. Perhaps the two could strengthen their bonds as Astartes through the flames of battle.
Kraytirous kept his eyes up and around, heading towards the alleyway formed between building 2 and some sort of refinery. Once he got there, he could make a run for it and start flanking the enemies placed within the ruined buildings. Hopefully the others would provide enough distractions to keep the enemy's fire off of him. What he wouldn't give for a flamer.

Post by Manius Agrippa on Apr 8, 2009 1:50:42 GMT
Sgt Agrippa fired another 3 round burst at a half detected heretic in the admin building blowing chunks off the masonry. Not a kill but enough to keep their damned heads down.
From the North East he could hear the steady thrum of Deltas Heavy Bolter and from the south east the shorter bursts of the scouts heavy bolter both adding their weight of fire to suppress the remaining defenders on the south side of the road.
Ducking back and changing the nearly empty Drum magazine for a fresh one he activated the general comms channel to ensure that all of Strike Force Alpha knew they were about to enter the Admin building. Sgt Agrippa didn't mind dying, but the last thing he wanted was to do the dying bit due to a burst of fire from the other combat teams.
"FIRETEAM CHARLIE THIS IS SGT AGRIPPA - PREPARE TO STORM THE ADMIN BUILDING - FRAG AND CLEAR THE GROUND FLOOR - ON MY MARK"
A quick check of the tactical situation on his Live-Feed Tactical Pict-Caster showed him where Delta and the command team was beginning to advance west clearing building 4 as well as the other half of Charlie team and the scouts having just purged building 2.
He Turned to Brother Cartern still firing deliberate shots into the building, having changed to their own comms channel.
"FRESH MAGAZINE BROTHER CARTERN! STAND BY TO ASSAULT"
Manius waited for Brothers Achilles, Camillus and Muleto to acknowledge that they were in position - before leaping through the remains of the eastern wall of building 3 and dropping into an alley between it and the Admin building. Stacking up on each side of a emergency fire escape door with Brother Cartern he primed a grenade and kicking in the door threw the frag into the room.
"GRENADE..." there was a concussive 'crump!' that might have deafened him had his suits Autosenses not dampened out the noise, followed by a blast of hot air and smoke.
"...CHARLIE TEAM GO GO GO. PURGE AND CLEAR. REGROUP BY THE GROUND FLOOR STAIR WELL"
And with that he stormed into the Admin building - weapon to his shoulder, selector thumbed over from 3 round burst to automatic - scanning for targets in the smoke as he went and trusting Brother Cartern to cover his back.
OOC: Okay Charlie team lets kill us some heretics.

The comm-net suprised him, nearly making him jump. +Brother, the Emperor's work needs to be done. Come, more heretics lay this way. Ones that we can purge first hand.+ Brother Shalluat, the heavy gunner. He reminded Diaclois of himself, in a roundabout way. His voice was calm, confident, sure of itself. Maybe I'll be that sure of myself one day. +Aye, Brother. May He guide your weapon.+ Diaclois responded, his voice shaking slightly as he followed the fellow marine into an alleyway.

Delta fireteam of the tactical squad raced across the tarmac, following the Force Commander and Apothecary as they made their way across the road into the ruined Hab block. The one occupant, a mutant of sorted sporting a shotgun pumped shot after shot at the advancing marines. At range the buckshot rounds pinged harmlessly off those marines who were unfortunate enough to be hit by the pellets.
(Delta fireteam and command squad proceed into the ruined Hab block south of building 4 and start clearing the buildings)
Landing his bulky armor upon the outside wall, Apothecary Silvanus began to enter the buildings using textbook caution. First by opening (or in his case smashing) down the entry way. Tossing in a Grenade of some kind. Then proceeding to enter and commence a clean sweep of the area.
This allowed the grenade to add a shock factor to whomever was inside, leaving them generally defenseless against immediate sweeping maneuvers.
He signaled his fellow brothers for his action, giving several hand signals, so not to attract attention with the small crackles of his vox-com. He gave symbols representing the style of entry, with quick jutting movements of the right fist. Pointing to himself and clutching his fist firmly he told his brothers that he would be the one to open the door and throw a grenade in, but immediately following that he gave a broad sweeping wave that symbolized for his brothers to make the sweeping advances afterwards.
They were going to be entering close combat now, where the fighting would be more frantic. The difference between failure and victory was a solid plan in case moral fell. But the Marines would want to have the initiative, in case what they were expecting inside the buildings turned out to be much deadlier than what was anticipated.

God-Emperor, these scouts are fasts! They were already here even though they had to clean building one, or had he himself stayed too long under cover to avoid the stubber? Nonetheless, they weren't quick enough to deprive him of this heretic on the stairs...
At the very moment Roland was to shot Taranius jumped in his line of sight, running toward the heretic with his knife in hand. He released the trigger with a swear turned his bolter away.
The next instant the scout was on the guy, sticking his blade into his heart while the grenade fell from his dead hands, only to be picked up and thrown at the last second by Calpurnius.
These guys are either heroics or plain crazy... the first jump on the ennemy with his knife and then just ignore the grenade, the other jump on the grenade... He was beginning to like them.
"Roland to sergeant Agrippa, building two is clear, we are getting in position for the assault." He switched to Camillus' personal frequency : "Brother, the war won't wait for you, move and join us on the eastern side of the administration. And while you're here tell these guards that building two his cleared, I think they will like the idea of sheltering from the north without fearing a round from the south."
Nodding to sergeant Quitus to show his appreciation of the scout's help in the cleansing and went to the side of the building and took a glance from the windows. No more than ten meters, a partial cover from the truck and no real angle from the bad guy to the north. Once behind the building the would run to the back door without any enemy to shoot them. He gestured to Achilles, took an other moment to see that Camillus was joining them and run across the street. He took no hit, neither did Achilles. In a matter of seconds the last of "his" men would be here.
"We are in position at the rear door. Ready when you are."
The sergeant's answer came with the blast of his grenade.
++CHARLIE TEAM GO GO GO. PURGE AND CLEAR. REGROUP BY THE GROUND FLOOR STAIR WELL++
Kicking the door opened he rushed inside, turning his bolter to sweep every corner of the room.

"Calpurnius, start putting fire on those windows. Shoot anything that isn't wearing an aquilla, I'll cover your back" The sergeant ordered.
Magnus didn't really bother with answering, it was generally accepted that marines followed the orders they were given without needing to respond. Instead, he ran to the window and started covering the admin building, letting off short but accurate bursts of fire every time his enhanced vision saw an enemy soldier.
Enemy. He was still having trouble believing these soldiers had once been loyal servants of the Emporer. Perhaps if they had had someone like the chaplain to guide them they would have stayed loyal. Not that it mattered, a heretic was a heretic and they had to die. Every last one of them.

Post by Marcus Camillus on Apr 8, 2009 16:09:30 GMT
Marcus ran from his cover, the small arms fire of the traitors doing no damage to his Adamantium power armour. He had his orders and would follow them to the letter. He rushed in behind a supply vehicle, where several Gaurdsmen were exchanging erratic fire with the enemy. They all stopped immediately, staring at his armoured bulk.
Not amused by their amazment at seeing an Astartes up close he gruffly commanded them "That building is clear - you need fear no further attacks from that direction." He gestured in the direction of building two, "Relay that to your officer."
Moving out once more Marcus ran past startled Gaurdsmen, moving at a speed that would seem impossible to a normal human, even without his heavy armour. Dodging behind vehicles and sections of ruins to avoid drawing fire, he soon reached the positions of his fellow brothers, on the eastern side of the Admin building. Looking to Roland he asked "The guard are informed brother. What is our plan of attack?"

Kraytirous felt a sense of pride when he saw his fellow Astartes march alongside him. The two moved carefully through the alley, appearing on the opposite side. He hefted his heavy bolter, aiming the weapon so that it would keep the enemy's heads down. "Cut through the street to the other side while I cover you. Then do the same for me when I give you the hand signal. On my mark, start running."
Kraytrous' voice was strangely calm and collected, even to his own ears. His eyes scanned the ruined buildings, hefting his massive weapon and bringing it to bear. "Now!" Kraytirous waited a few moments to allow Amores to start running before clenching down on the trigger and sending heavy bolter shells flying across the enemy's entrenchment. He spread out his fire so that it would keep the heads of most of the enemy's down. He knew that this would attract attention to him, but at least it would give his other brother's some much needed opportunity.

"Now!" Diaclois started sprinting towards the street, his boots pounding heavily against the hard pavement. Behind him, he could hear the heavy bolter fire, punching holes through the walls of the enemies encampment. Trusting his battle-brother with his life, he scanned the main street for any sort of cover he could use. spotting some rubble, he made his way towards it. "Good." He murmured. it was well protected, on both sides. He could cover Brother Shalluat and not worry about the heretics in the refinery, building four. Jumping and sliding under the wreckage, he turned and watched the alleyway, waiting to lay down cover fire when needed. Idly scanning the battlefield, he saw something that piqued his interest...

"CHARLIE TEAM GO GO GO. PURGE AND CLEAR. REGROUP BY THE GROUND FLOOR STAIR WELL!" Cried Sergeant Agrippa over the vox.
As the Sergeant spun into the doorway, Jacen followed suit. Raising his bolter up into an aiming position, Jacen scanned the hallway. Dust and smoke filled the room and Jacen could make out the forms of two dead traitors, one killed by him, the other by Agrippa's grenade.
The Sergeant began to move down the hallway Jacen followed suit. He cocked his weapon as the auspex revealed a target heading towards them.

How was he supposed to know when the grenade could go off, so he had reacted on instinct, he thought. He was still surprised he had survived, his adrenaline level spiking. After talking with Calpurnus he heard his sarge shout "OK, thats enough self congratulation. Taranius, Raziel go up one floor and find firing spots where you can see the roof of building 2. Once its clear of hostiles, relocate to a position where you can cover the northern side of the street and suppress their support weapons. Calpurnius Your with me" Andrus nodded to his comrade Raziel, hefting his sniper rifle and moving up the stairs. He went to the window on the right, resting the barrel of his rifle on the window sill, he took a calming breath, knowing any shot needed to be done quickly but calmly and carefully. His mind and body calmed, his heart rate adjusting to the calming influences of his breathing. He went down on one knee, standard operating procedure, because he knew he might need cover. His right eye went to the scope and he looked through, his concentration was quickly broken by Raziel doing the same next to him, he concentrated one again and took aim.

((Gettin' hard to keep up fellas )) Demoades charged in, pulling the weapon's trigger for the first time. The weapon fired a long jet of plasma out it's muzzle like a dragon's flame. The blast flew, hitting an enemy in the face. The heretic screamed as he went down, burning, his body half-melted.

Jacen took point as he and Sergeant Agrippa walked through the Administratum building. He could still hear the weapon fire and feel the explosions from outside. A fine layer of dust fell from the ceiling and covered the floor, walls, and rows of desks.
Jacen and the Sergeant walked through the desk area and Jacen looked around. Desks were overturned, chairs flung about, and paper and dataslates all over the floor. Jacen also made out the bodies of workers and overseers, still laying where they had died.
Jacen brought his attention back to the mission as they approached a corner. They turned it and walked straight into two traitors. One of the traitors, armed with a shotgun, fired at Jacen's leg. His leg flew out from under him and sent him crashing to a kneeling position. Quickly seeing that he wasn't injured, he and Agrippa opened fire point-blank into the traitors.
