Name: Isadius Arenis
Age: 113
Designation: N/A
Height: 7' 9"
Hair Colour: Raven Black
Eye Colour: Light Blue
Physical Description: Isadius' light blue eyes are very well known to simply stare into one's soul, almost as if he can see a man's weaknesses and fears, and his pale skin gives off some sort of ‘luminescence’ in darkness. His tall and lithe stature gives the illusion of weakness, but the hundreds of battles that he has fought in dismiss this disillusion.
His face is lean and angular with an ancient Gavalian 'honor' tattoo on the right-hand side, being known as 'beautiful' before his induction, but this image of sleek beauty has been marred by a scar running from hair-line, over his right eye to his cheekbone, a permanent reminder of his final mission as a Scout-Novice, where a Word Bearer Chaos Marine’s accursed Power Sword marred the sleek lines of his face. To cover this, he has a long fringe of raven-black hair that covers the right side of his face. Isadius has a bionic left wrist and hand, lost thanks to the same accursed Power Sword that cut the scar into his face. These bionic replacements are made from plasteel and adamantium; the Imperial Aquila is inscribed onto the plate on the top of his bionic hand. One fresh gold service stud is implanted above his right eye, to the left of his scar.
His black and white Power Armour bears three painted bolter-casings, the honor symbol of the 'Marksman's Honor', one on the rim of his left pauldron, one on his right greave and the third is painted on the right-hand side of his helmet. His breastplate bears a golden Imperial Aquila.
Personality: Isadius is a quiet, brooding character and is well-known by other Marines in his squad for his sarcastic and slightly pessimistic nature; he is also known to be very humble about himself. Despite his "Cup half-empty" view on life, his calmness in battle and slowness to anger are but two of the traits that make him deadly accurate with his Bolter - letting him comfortably hit a moving target at about a half-mile – and an almost supernatural foresight of an enemy’s cuts or smashes in close combat allows him to parry each blow and drive his Combat Blade through their guard with simplistic ease. A subtle and cool-headed man, Isadius can be relied upon by his Brothers to eliminate any targets of opportunity from a distance or in melee with almost any weapon at his disposal.
He prefers to be alone in his quarters most of the time, tending to his weapons and writing in his journal, Isadius also sketches, most recently taking an interest in the noble machines of the Chapter Armory. He also walks methodically through the Cruiser, exploring the places where even rats dare not go, through depressurized areas of the ship, the corridors, med-bay, mess-hall, armory, practice rooms, he knows the Cruiser like the back of his hand or the workings of his Bolter.
Seeming to be like any devotee of the Emperor’s worship, Isadius secretly believes that there are no gods at all, nothing worthy of being worshiped, and clearly knows this is heretical. He holds a grudge with the Marines of the Word Bearers Legion and the Ork Warboss Ghazkull Mag Uruk Thraka for very different reasons.
For all his pessimistic nature and brooding silence, Isadius easily relates to marines with less experience than him. This simple trait - eventually - may make him an excellent squad leader, possibly even tutoring the next generation of Space Marines as a Scout-Sergeant of the 10th Company.

History: Isadius Arenis, formerly Drek Eron, was born on the planet Gaval in the Armageddon system to a mining-class family and throughout his childhood was brought up to be a miner, although he always dreamed of joining the Steel Legion throughout his childhood. His brother secretly gave him his old air rifle upon joining the Imperial Navy, becoming a keen shooter. But still he was unhappy, he wanted to see the universe, go further than the confines of the Armageddon system. But all of this idyllic lifestyle and hopeful dreams changed for the better when he turned twelve.
On his twelfth birthday, a pair of black and white flying fortresses landed on the planet, a black ‘Omega’ emblazoned upon its wings and doors. Isadius and his family ventured outside to see what all the commotion was about. The doors opened and the sound of pressurized gas escaping the confines of the mechanical beast frightened the mining community, a number of black and white armoured giants strode from the belly of the creature and invited the ‘elder’ youngsters of the settlement to come to them. His grandfather took Isadius to them and presented the child. One of the giants removed his helmet, greeted Isadius’ grandfather and embraced him as a brother, talking to him lengthily. The apparent leader of these giants, having golden touches added to his armour here and there, knelt down beside the young boy and smiled, turning towards his blue-armoured kinsman, who smiled and muttered a few words to his comrade, and welcomed the child to join him. Isadius said his farewells to his family and travelled with these giants - which he later learned were called the ‘Omega Marines’ - with another child from his settlement to their Cruiser where he met children from the other settlements of planets and moons within the Armageddon system. During travel to meet the chapter’s Battle Barge, Isadius learnt that the Marine that had embraced his grandfather was the old man’s brother, so the child discovered that he had relations within the chapter.
Due to chapter requirements, Isadius had to change his name to better fit into the Omega Marines. Taking inspiration from an old Gavalian founding legend, Isadius took the first name of one of the planet’s first colonists, Arenis Galvan, as his new surname. Racking his brains for his new first name, he inquired of the name of his great-uncle within the 6th Company, discovering that it was Quintus Isadius. The child, after much deliberation, decided that his new name would be Isadius Arenis. After arduous training and enhancement of his skills and the implantation of his artificial organs and the Chapter’s precious Gene-Seed, he patiently awaited induction into the ranks of the fully-fledged Battle Brothers. The insertion of the chapter’s Gene-Seed into his body brought about a drastic change of personality within him. Where before he was talkative, energetic, eager, optimistic and somewhat rash, but after the implantation he gradually became increasingly silent, sarcastic, pessimistic and morose, much to the surprise of his Scout Sergeant and his squad-mates.
His first few battles were with Bolter and blade, supporting the main Battle Brothers with covering fire and capturing objectives, which he excelled at, getting used to the Bolter and the power it could unleash when he pulled the trigger. He quickly proved himself as a proficient marksman, once eliminating an Eldar Warlock in the early phases of one skirmish against the forces of the Craftworld Iyanden with the Sniper Rifle, the bullet-hole right between the eyes. At one point, Isadius was offered the position of Squad Marksman, but he politely declined and offered it to one of his squad-mates, wanting to be proficient with all forms of weaponry available to him - Heavy weapons, Assault weapons, Melee weapons and, of course, the holy Bolter - before taking any preferences.
It was just before the Third War for Armageddon when Isadius ascended to become a Battle Brother within the 9th Company, having shown great valor in a battle against traitorous Marines of the Word Bearers Legion. During the battle, Isadius held off a number of the Chaos Marines whilst the rest of his squad fell back to a more favorable position. Armed only with Bolter and Combat Blade, he managed, through sheer luck, clever marksmanship and his ability of foresight, to eliminate three Word Bearers before he was discovered and subsequently ambushed. In Melee combat, he slew yet another Chaos Marine before the accursed Power Sword of the Aspiring Champion hacked off his hand and left an ugly, permanent scar across his face, only being saved by two shots delivered by the Scout-Sergeant to the traitor’s head and neck, ripping head from shoulders. Upon retuning to the cruiser, he received a bionic replacement for his missing hand and was cleared of any possible corruption by the 10th Company’s Chaplain, declining the offers of any skin grafts on the scar, wanting to keep it was a second memento. Isadius was told that he would receive his power armour the next day, to which the young Neophyte was ecstatic.
During the Khai-Zhan rebellion, Isadius was posted as a spotter for his devastator Brothers in the war-torn streets of Vogen, where he eliminated twenty three heretics alone with a brother bearing a Heavy Bolter beside him. He took up charge of a Multi-Melta later on in the campaign.
Isadius, as a member of the 8th Assault Company, in his squad aided the Ultramarines 2nd Company's Assault Squads in taking the Governor's Palace in the early stages of the Ichar IV rebellion, where he proved himself greatly against dozens of the members of the 'Brotherhood' and those guardsmen the brotherhood swayed to their control.
During the Third War for Armageddon Isadius used his experience in marksmanship to eliminate a number of Orks in the “WAAAGH!” from a distance with his Bolter, rubbing shoulders with the squad marksman and keeping up a competition during the war as to who could shoot the most Orks and who could shoot them first - Isadius lost by a small amount, but kept the competition up for ten years afterwards until his counterpart moved up to the 3rd Company, and he still lost. During one battle, defending Hades Hive alongside Commissar Yarrick and the Steel Legion, a ‘Lobba’ shell killed three Battle Brothers in the early stages of the battle whilst an Ork Power Klaw took care of another two before the Nob wielding it could be removed from the fray. In the same engagement Ork Warboss Ghazkull Mag Uruk Thraka encountered the squad and laid into the weary Omega Marines, near-mortally wounding Isadius and killing the Brother-Sergeant. Isadius fought on with his remaining Battle Brothers, forcing the giant Ork back until the noble Marine blacked out.
Waking up in the Med Bay of the 7th Company Cruiser ‘Redemption’, Isadius was surprised to find that he had been there a full week, his body now patched with adamantium and bio-grafts. Wanting to get back planet-side as soon as possible, Isadius headed to the practice ranges as soon as he was cleared by the Company’s Apothecary. After a week, Isadius had regained much of his skill that he’d lost and was prepared to rejoin his reinforced squad on the ash plains of Armageddon.
Isadius rejoined his squad during the height of the battle on the plains of Anthrand, upon which one of the legendary Shadowsword tank-hunters fought, flanked by a dozen Leman Russ Battle Tanks, six Chimera APC’s and nine Sentinel Walkers. A short distance away, seven Predator tanks and ten Razorback APC’s in the colours of five different chapters, a Land Raider Redeemer from the Salamanders chapter and a Land Raider Prometheus of the Ultramarines held the right flank, whilst four Razorbacks, two Rhinos and a Predator Annihilator of the White Scars, flanked by dozens-upon-dozens of White Scar Bike Riders zoomed past the left, intending to bring the fight to the enemy. These sights further emboldened Isadius and his Battle Brothers, knowing that so many of the Emperor’s Finest would come to protect and safeguard the planet where two great Wars previous had ravaged the ash plains of Armageddon. Upon leaving the planet, it was decided that Isadius join the 4th Company on their cuiser, the ‘Deliverance’, and join the strike force stationed around Segmentum Solar, aiding to pacify Xenos planets, annihilate Heretical uprisings and bring the Emperor’s truth to long-lost and willing Human civilisations.
It was upon the doomed planet of Medusa V that Isadius, whilst cleaning a room of heretical Guardsmen, discovered the dead body of an old friend of his from his squad in the Scout Company - now of the 5th Company - surrounded by six other Omega Marine corpses, empty Bolter shells and the bodies of dozens of Heretical Guardsmen. Isadius took his friends helm, a Mark 4 ‘Maximus’ pattern, and used it as his own, placing his old helmet in his friend’s arms before reporting the discovery to his Sergeant. Isadius was then filled with a silent fury that knew little bounds and, feeling pain for the death of his friend, fought savagely for vengeance for the remainder of the campaign, defending a civilian refugee line from Dark Eldar attackers, single-handedly destroying an ancient Black Legion Predator tank and ripping a Genestealer apart with his bare hands. When push came to shove, Isadius left Medusa V to its fate and exited the system with the ‘Deliverance’ and headed back to Segmentum Solar, where he, the 4th Company and the venerable Cruiser remain.

“Isadius, are you ready?”
The sleek-faced Marine turned his head slightly towards the origin of the booming voice,
“Yes, I am, Brother-Sergeant, but are you…?”
Isadius turned his head back to the Aegis Defense lines of the traitor guardsmen, bolstered by a squad of traitorous marines of the Iron Warriors legion. He spat on the floor and slid on his helmet, an upgraded version of the Mark 4 ‘Maximus’ pattern, breathing in the familiar recycled air calmly. Now he was in control of himself. The voice came over the vox-net again, sounding slightly more human than the amplified voice from earlier,
++Isadius, I want you to take the first shot.++
“Yes, Brother-Sergeant. The Emperor guides my aim.”
A second voice rang over the vox, outraged,
++Him?! But he is not the designated marksman!++
++Silence, Cato! I ordered him to, and you should respect that!++
++... Yes... Sir...!++
Isadius chuckled into the vox, glancing up at the Heads-up-Display and noted the distance between him and the lines of the enemy; half-smiling inside his helmet he cocked his Bolter so there was a bolt in the chamber, raised the weapon up and pulled the trigger. There was a satisfying ‘Whoomph’ as the monstrous projectile was launched from the weapon, speeding towards its target and struck it in the forehead, burying itself deep inside their skull before exploding, ripping the head of the unfortunate Heretic apart and splattering his comrades with grey matter. Isadius lowered his weapon to the hip. There was a short moment of silence before a roar of anguish could be heard coming from the heretic’s lines, with the mad laughter of Chaos ringing in the loyalist’s ears.
“So it begins…” Isadius muttered into the vox.
The traitor guardsmen abandoned their defensive lines and charged down the hill, firing lasgun and grenade launcher as they ran, the incessant ‘Pshhhu’ and ‘Pshhha’ of the las-weapons increasingly irritating Isadius. The apparent leaders of the rabble wielding chainsword and laspistol with little effect; the revving of the chainswords greatly added to his irritation. Isadius waited patiently for the order to fire again, noticing the Marine beside him pull out a frag grenade, pull the pin from the hunk of metal and throw it, the subsequent explosion shredding the legs of a number of heretics, screaming in pain as they fell to the ground.
++Brothers! Open fire!++
Isadius half-smiled again and pulled the trigger, muzzle-flashes lighting up the ground in front of him. He watched the oncoming heretics die with no emotion whatsoever as heads exploded, arms and legs torn from the torso, a guardsman ripped in twain from hip to shoulder, three simultaneous explosions ripping his body apart. It was a massacre at best Isadius noted grimly. Only a handful of heretical guardsmen made it within melee range, being easily dispatched with punches and slashes with Combat Blade, Bolter and Paratus’ Chainsword. When the melee was over, only the Chaos Marines of the Iron Warriors, standing tall and arrogant behind their perfectly-erected defenses, were left without being granted the Emperor’s Justice.
++Brother Hellenas, open fire if you will, Brother Isadius, take out their sergeant.++
“Yes, Brother-Sergeant.”
The Marine with the Missile Launcher loaded a krak-missile into the weapon, raised the targeter to his bionic eye and fired towards the Chaos Marines. Almost simultaneously, Isadius raised his Bolter and aimed carefully at the scarred, tattooed head of the Aspiring Champion of the enemy and pulled the trigger. He heard another satisfying ‘Whoomph’ and the projectile sped away towards its target.
++Brother Nero, put some smoke down for us.++
The Marine to the other side of Isadius, with only a respirator and an unruly mop of brown hair covering his head, pulled out a white cylindrical grenade and pulled the pin. White smoke immediately began spouting from the grenade and the Marine threw it upwards, landing just short of the Aegis Defense Lines, the smoke covering the crest of the hill. The two projectiles hit their targets near-simultaneously, the bolt burying itself within the skull of the Aspiring Champion and exploding, covering the Steel and Hazard-Striped Power Armour of his comrades with blood and grey matter. The krak-missile punctured the chestplate of a Chaos Marine, leaving a large gaping hole in both him and his armour, and exploded, spraying more blood and gore over his Chaos brethren. The Iron Warriors were further taken by surprise by the looming shapes appearing through the white smoke dancing and swirling in front of them, flares flashing and heavy projectiles bouncing off their ancient armour, each one trying to find a nook it could force itself into and detonate.
The Omega Marines pushed forward, emptying entire clips into the Chaos Marines, each had a steely resolve that made them ignore the hastily fired bolts of the enemy. Isadius primed a frag grenade and threw it behind the Aegis fortifications, it exploding and sending razor-sharp pieces of shrapnel deep into the ceramite of the ancient Power Armour. He laughed grimly into the vox, a half-smile curling the left side of his face inside his helmet as he gunned down an Iron Warrior with a large piece of jagged metal embedded in his leg, the heretic swinging a chainsword at him wildly as he tried to defend himself.
___
‘The aftermath of a skirmish is always a bloody affair’, Isadius brooded, holding the defaced helmet of an Imperial Guardsman in his bionic hand and inspecting it critically. The Imperial Eagle was shaved off the flak-helmet, leaving a dull silver scrape across the front of the otherwise brown helmet. A mechanical, buzzing voice in his ear gently shook him out of his thoughts,
++Brother Isadius, a good fight was it not?++
Isadius shuddered at the sound of it, Brother Prabian - now more machine than man - had been missing a voice box in his throat for over five years now, and it was growing increasingly disturbing, not to say annoying,
“It was indeed, Prabian… If only you could aim better…”
There was a mechanical grating in his ear as Prabian attempted to chuckle,
++Maybe, Isadius, but at least the heretics are dead, no?++
“No, Prabian… No…”
The mechanical chuckle buzzed in his ear again,
++Fine, back to your brooding, young one… I shall get a laugh from you yet…++
“You won’t, old man… Closing private channel, switching to squad-level vox…”
‘Finally…’ Isadius thought to himself, dropping the flak-helmet and striding towards his squad-mates, ‘Less of the cheese-grater…’

I ordered him to, and you should respect that!++
++... Yes... Sir...!++
++Brothers! Open fire!++
