Hello Folks thought I would create a thread to discuss what Special/Heavy weapons you think we should take for the mission.
1st Tactical Squad is taking a Heavy Bolter as per the Force Commanders suggestion and I have requested a Plasma gun.
I am also thinking about carrying some Melta bombs (one per fire team) in case of heavy armor.

from the sounds of it the scouts will be leading a stealth approach and then backing off to support the tactical squad for the actual assault so we'll bring a couple of sniper rifles for stealth kills and a heavy botler for fire support.

That sounds about right, my only concern is coming across any heavy armor i.e. a Leman Russ or some such.
Lighter armor such as Chimeras and Sentinals in the hands of the Renegades would not pose such a problem but a larger tank would require some inventive heroics to take out.

Heroics is what space marines are all about. Have faith brother Your right though, a couple of melta bombs will probably be useful. If we don't meet any tanks we may still need demolitions for doors, wall barricades or whatever.

Even though I'm not part of the tactical squad, Manius here gives me the funny image of the "how to get rid of tanks using infantry" cliche. 1 guy runs up and throws a grenade inside, or something like that. I hope we don't have to reduced to using things like that to win.

we do carry krak grenades as standard. We can take our weak points like tracks, turret hatches, fuel tanks etc.

Yes, but even in 40K TT that's hardly the ideal way to take out tanks.

True, I doubt that we'll have much in the way of heavy armour to deal with our first time out though. We'll be going in with only 2 understrength squads so I hope that Deliverence will go easy on us.
he hasn't let me in on whats he's planning yet so I have no garauntees.

Oh no - I was thinking 1 fire team 'distracts' the tank while another charges it from the flank or rear and throws several grenades inside etc - not cliche at all

Melta bombs are probably a good idea, or perhaps a melta gun. If all else fails Space Marines can pull of cliches, they are Space Marines.

I think a plasma gun should cover it. whether we meet tanks or not we'll definately be fighting heretic infantry which will be lightly armoured but in great numbers and if we're storming a starport there will lots of CQB which will need massed firepower, an anti-tank weapon like a melta would just be in the way.
Also we'll be going in with several guard unit and they'll have their own anti-armour weapons.
