I believe that the Omega Marines parent chapter is the ultramarines.
Hence the proximity of the two chapters and the fact that the Omega symbol is the Ultramarine U turned upside down.

The Omega Marines symbol is actually the greek letter omega in capital form. It would be more accurate to say that the Ultramarines symbol is an upside down omega.

Yeah sure. The upside down U is the Omega symbol. But it I presume the two are linked because only a few chapters have the symbol either upside down or right side up.
I don't know for sure. I presume the codex structure of our chapter is also an inheritance from the Ultramarines.

I think we all agree on being from the Ultramarine gene-seed... the question is : are we direct descendant or not. I think we can use the omega without being direct Ultrmarine successor.

In the interests of 'suspension of belief' and 'keeping it real' I think that we should have another chapter as our parent rather then the Ultra Marines. As you know I am plugging for the Eagle Warriors - they are an Original Chapter from the 2nd Founding - one of the Progenitor Chapters - the Ultra Marines are also a Progenitor - they just kept the name and the Ultramar System. The Eagle Warriors are as Ultra Marine as the Ultra Marines themselves, are fleet based (like us) and have a very similar color scheme. Also very little about them is known unlike the Ultra Marines - so we would be able to use 'some' artistic licence in forming its back ground. Discuss

Actually I'm open for being descended from the Nova Marines. They're a 2nd founding after Ultramarines but their armor is split in two much like ours, yet the background is not that fleshed out for them.
Besides that they have awesome names ;D

Have you considered making the third battle-barge a war trophy. Maybe a re-captured imperial cruiser or a ship recovered from a space hulk.

I was going through the armory and noticed an abundance of rare tech. Perhaps we can claim a closeness to the Mechanicum due to a STC discovery? STC = ships and nifty toys?

The Flagship Battle Barge 'Proditor Nex' serves as both a Battle Barge and the Fortress Monastery of the Chapter. This is the heart of our Chapter and on it resides our Chapter Master, Chief Librarian and Chaplain and an element of the First Company. It could be used as primarily a mobile Chapter Monastery.
Perhaps the history could be that the Omega Marines were designed to be able to travel and fight the Emperor's enemies in any sector and segmentum. This reflects the existence of 3 Barges within the Chapter Fleet.
Many chapters that are fleet based will have a different number of ships than one that has a Fortress World and a sector of recruitment planets.
In time, as the companies that suffered heavy casualties on Armageddon renew their strength we will not soubt join our brothers on the Eastern Fringes to fight the encroachment of the Tau menace.
All ideas, feel free to pick them apart etc etc. You guys have helped created this whole RPG just as much as myself and Julius.

@ Theofonias, what rare tech is there in the armoury thread? I just wrote descriptions of all the weapons available to tactical, assault, devastator and scout squads in the marine codex.

I added a poll for you to vote and decide who should be our parents. Please post to explain your choice.
Also note that according to the Lexicanum :
Could they be the same chapter ? Could the Angels Porphyr be our big brothers, our two chapters being the heirs of the Eagle Warriors ?

Well I've thrown my vote in with the Angels Porphyr, could make for an interesting story involving Weylands and previous battle brothers all in dreads working togethr on Armaggedon.

I think the Angels are the closer of our selections. I did some looking at known descendants of the Ultramarines and saw something interesting: the Libators Chapter, Patriarchs of Ulixis Chapter, and the Inceptors Chapter have absolutely nothing on them. Something so shrouded in anonymity could lend us a bit more creative license.

I was looking into the War for Armageddon and the Imperial forces there; it looks like the Blood Angels and a bunch of their succesor chapters were in that war along with the Ultramarines and their succesors. Could the Omega Marines possibly be a Blood Angels descendent? Or are the Angels Porphyr our father chapter that came from the Blood Angels? Just an interesting observation I made. Like to know what you guys think.
