Do not ask why you serve. Ask only how.
Name: Cassius Tabrias
Age: 24
Designation: Scout Novice
Height: 7'2"
Hair Colour: Brown. Largely bald with a small mohawk down the center of his head, several fading scars from the last of his implants flecked in between more recent stitching from combat injuries.
Physical Description:
Cassius is a daunting figure at just over 7 foot in height without any form of powered armor and weighing nearly 200 pounds. His skin weathered from several years of active service in the far reaching places of the galaxy and a dozen alien worlds, he still retains the subtle hints the very subtle hints of youth and his rank as a Scout marine.
His skin marred with scars from hundreds of injuries and the very faded scars of the last of his geneseed implants, he retains no markings to signify the world of his birth.
Personality:
Cassius is a man of both single minded devotion to a task, and born without fear. From before he could walk or speak he showed no signs of submissiveness or anxiety and throughout his youth would often find himself on the butt end of various pranks and worse beatings for his seemingly inability to back down.
Since his initiation into the Omega Marines Space Marine Chapter, such traits have served him well in both his ability to single mindedly snipe at enemy with long range fire, or hurl himself headlong into melee combat without the barest hint of concern for his own life when faced with overwhelming odds. As a result however, he seems to constantly be recovering from some minor wound or another, and has on occasion questioned an order to withdraw.

History:
Early History
Cassius was born upon the Hive World of Necromunda, within the Hive Sibellus within the western fringe of the known Galaxy. Acknowledged to most as the largest population center not only of the world, but of the whole system and capital to the surrounding region of space, Cassius was born to the darkness of the Underhive and the gangs that pervade such area's.
His early life was spent in the care of his family, a pirate gang that constantly vied for power and land within the depths of the hive, and well before the age of 10 he had found himself thrust into combat with crude but dangerously effective firearms and leading a life constantly on the run from law enforcement, press gangs and other hivers.
Early life is always difficult, but Cassius was always told that he was destined for something greater. One day, he would come to lead one of the great gangs of the underhive, his parents had told him, and he had a startling trait of refusing to back down from a fight and to attack those larger and stronger than himself with such savagery that he often came out the victor against overwhelming odds.
That is of course, until the day that a fairly commonplace gunfight with the upper militia of the Hive turned bad and resulted in the death or capture of the majority of the gang Cassius was a part of. Most of the adults were scattered, those that had been captured were executed on the spot for resisting arrest. Cassius as a youth still was to be incarcerated alongside his fellows and eventually put to work for the betterment of the hive, a common criminal before he could count above his own age in numbers.
Another part of the hive, weeks later, the Omega Marines made planetfall. There had been rumor of cults to a false god causing trouble within the city and with a routine patrol placing them as the closest to the system a half company had responded to the calls for aid and descend into the depths to purge the traitors in holy flame. A single tactical squad slaughtered the entirety of the cult, more than ten times their own number and calling upon the foul warpspawn and letting loose foul plague zombies.
It was commonplace for the Marines to make a routine check of the worlds that they had made planetfall on, the very recent Third War of Armageddon fresh in their minds and their numbers thinned to the smallest they had been since their founding. Alongside a brief but efficient search of the lower and mid hives alongside the feral populace in the wastes outside the walls of the many hive cities of Necromunda, the prison system was also checked for potential recruits. A short combat exam, and a list of questions designed to test cognitive thinking was given to any youth found, and any who passed or even came close to such a thing were gathered to a central location and given the option of continuing their simple and often meaningless lives on this stretch of rock, or to ascend into the heavens above and fight alongside the Emperors avenging angels.
His options layed out before him, a life in the unknown alongside those he knew only as legend, or to return to the metal cells of prison and a lifetime of work for crimes committed before he could understand their meaning, Cassius began the initiation process of the Omega Marines.
Upon the mobile cruisers, far more stringent testing took place. Genetics were mapped and references before being filed and combat and intelligence training beginning alongside genetic manipulation and implantation. The process would take many years but eventually Cassius would be considered ready for active duty, and he was placed within the 10th scout company in order to learn how to act and move with his new implants and test his training, alongside gaining actual combat experience.
So far he has shown aptitude with whatever has been asked of him, however he has yet to gain any major attention to warrant promotion to the rank of a full battle brother, regardless of how small and wounded the Omega Marines have become.
Sample RP:
The hot and humid jungles of Chronus II buzz with life, Cassius and Damnos moving relentlessly over the rocky terrain on the upper edge of the valley. Reconnaissance for the most part, although with orders to rig a series of small bridges up and down the valley for future detonation to slow enemy advance. The Tau Sects had been attempting an expansion into the system for nearly three years now and the Omega Marines had been requested for assistance in the area following some brief fighting in the outer edge of the system.
Cassius paused for a moment atop a rocky outcropping, the jagged clifface covered in vines and covered by the expanse of tree's from the ever present jungle. Damnos and himself had been sent foward to this half of the valley whilst their fellow's from the combat squad had been sent across the opposite ridge, he would never spot them however, they were trained to blend in perfectly to the jungle surrounding and he could spend hours with an image enhancer trying to tell them apart from the surrounding foliage.
Damnos pauses beside him glancing out over the valley as well, "Charges placed along the fourth bridge by Alpha team, we're making good time but should proceed quickly."
"Understood" Cassius responds softly as he steps back and disappears into the undergrowth of the jungle.
+++++
An hour passes, the pair have made their way across two more bridges and left charges alongside their own half for Alpha team to repeat upon the opposite side of the ridge. The twisting road was a necessity in the jagged terrain, and whilst a single bridge could halt the advance of enemy armor, their task was to lock down the entire region from allowing an enemy to amass armor away from Imperial retaliation.
Damnos halts the march and raises his gun by reflex, Cassius follows suit without being properly aware of what has caused his companions pause. He strains his hearing, his eye's half closing so he can focus on a single sense before he hears it too, the faint scraping of metal on metal out of place this deep in the jungle when the pair should be alone in the silence.
Within a fraction of a second the safety switch is off on both of the scouts bolters, a Stalker silenced round sliding into the loading barrel as the pair instantly leap in opposite directions off the barely detectable foot track. Any other soldier would have died there and then, as the solid slug shots from their attacks flew into the undergrowth around them.
There is an alien hiss of anger at being defied, before three manlike avian beasts drop from the tree's with large bladed rifles grasped before them. Damnos fires first, the gas hiss of fired rounds accompanied by the sound of splintered wood as the creatures divide and lunge towards the scouts. Cassius recognizes the creatures, Kroot, from earlier training as a species that swears fealty to the Tau Empire. He barely has time to consider a plan of attack before the closest one lashes out inhumanly fast attempting to behead the augmented human soldier. Cassius ducks low, dropping to his knee and raising his rifle quickly to line up a shot towards the second Kroot moving towards him. A single shot rings out, before the back of the creatures ribcage explodes with the internal detonation of the bolter round.
A second sweeping shot from the melee Kroot forces him to roll forward but he takes a hard hit to the carapace protecting his back and sprawls off balance to where he intended. Righting himself and raising his gun again the Kroot is already pressing the attack and Cassius see's no option but to leap forward and tackle the alien fully in the chest, abandoning his bolter to the undergrowth and disarming the avian beast at the same time. There are shots ringing out in the background, Damnos is still alive and facing off against his own attacker.
Cassius and the alien sprawl to the ground with Cassius on top, and he immediately reaches for the creatures throat with both hands before clamping them down as tight as he can. The Kroot lashes out with it's long claw's, cutting and tearing at the Scouts forearms before trying to tear it's attackers face off. Cassius simply tightens his grip and puts all of his weight down upon the creature before he breaks the xenos' neck with a distinct cracking sound.
Rising slowly to retrieve his bolter, Damnos makes eye contact for a moment to let him know that there are no other attacks around, his own Kroot missing the upper half of it's head from a bolter round.
The pair continue into the jungle at double pace to complete their mission before they can radio for evacuation and let their sergeant know that the Tau have already arrived on this world.
