The Battle for Malderis: Horus Heresy RP

The planet Malderis. An newly conquered Imperial world that has recently come under attack by a massive Ork Waaggh!! under the leadership of Warboss Claw-Thrasha. The planetary defenders, a half-company of White-Scars, have been pushed back several times by the forces of the Greenskin hoarde

Seeing no other choice, the White Scars' captain has called for support from any nearby Imperials. The Luna Wolves, Space Wolves, Imperial Fists, and World Eaters have answered the call. Strike forces responded quickly and were able to releave the tired sons of Khan from their hopless struggle.

As the Astartes struggle to defeat the Ork threat, sightings of mysterious figures striking Greenskin positions have emerged and the Space Marines prepare for the possibility of a new threat. Meanwhile in the Istvaan system the Warmaster Horus prepares to unleash his treachery that will shake the Imperium to its very core. The defenders of Malderis, cut off from their Legions due to the Warp turbulence, have no idea of what is about to occur.

Now a single strike cruiser belonging to the Word Bearers has just come into orbit above Malderis. At its head comes Chaplain-Captain Marulek carrying an important message for his comrades.

"WAAGGH!" bellowed the Orks as they charged towards the Imperial lines, firing their weapons into the air and swinging their weapons in the air. Ork Boyz charged forward alongside giant Deff Dreads and the smaller Killa Kanz. Ork Warbuggies, Wartrukks, and Warbikes belched black smoke as they drove forward.

From the trenches rose Imperial Army troopers.

"Get ready men, here they come!" yelled the Captain, "Get Rocket launchers on those vehicles and Stubbers on that infantry!"

The Captain turned, picked up the vox and said "This is Captain Tiresius, Orks bearing in on our position. Requesting artillery and mortar fire, danger close!"

A few seconds later through the vox came "Roger that Captain Tiresius, Danger Close fire mission coming in."

From the rear of the lines came thumping as Basilisks and Mortars opened fire. The shells screamed through the air and smashed into the oncoming hoarde throughing dirt, weapons, blood, and limbs into the air. The Greenskins still came on dispite the horendous loses caused by the artillery.

Captain Tiresius drew his chainsword and las-pistol and ran towards his men.

Tiresius waved his sword in the air and yelled "Ready men! Aim! Fire!"

As one the Army troopers opened fire with las-guns, Heavy Stubbers, and rocket launchers. Vehicles went up in clouds of smoke as they detonated and Orks were mowed down by weapons fire.

Still, like an unstoppable wave, the Orks came forward and impacted on the Imperial line. Army troopers were hacked apart by Choppas and gunned down by Shoottas.

As the first line of Troopers were butchered Captain Tiresius pointed his blade at the Orks and yelled "Fire!" The troopers behind him opened fire and cut down many of the Orks.

"Charge!," bellowed Tiresius as he slashed his chainsword into the head of and Ork and shot another in the face with his las-pistol. The Army troopers charged into the Orks stabbing with bayonets and blasting with their rifles.

"Onward! For the Emperor and the Imperium of Man!" bellowed Tiresius. He hoped that reinforcements were on their way, for if they weren't then they were all as good as dead.

The Warboss stood atop the hill watching the battle. He was a colossal Ork, standing as tall as two humans and as wide as three. His heavy armor was covered in all manner of war trophies and his boss pole had the skulls of humans, Eldar, and even rival Warbosses upon it. He held a doubled barreled shoota in one hand and a large power-klaw in the other. His name was Claw-Thrasha and he was the biggest Ork on Malderis.

His Boyz were doing well. Soon dem Imperial Boyz would be smashed and dis ere planet would be iz. He knew that he couldn't get too confident. Dese were only dem egular puny humies, dem Marine boyz hadn't showed up yet.

Turning, Claw-thrasha faced the second wave of Boyz waiting for the order to charge.

Claw-thrasha fired his shoota into the air and bellowed "Alright ya gitz! Get in der and smash dem humies! WAAGGH!"

"WAAGGH!" replied the Boyz as they rushed past him and towards the humies.

Claw-thrasha bellowed "WAAGGH!" again and laughed as he fired his Shoota into the air, dis ere waz a good fight!

Dante knelt down in front of The banner of the Luna Wolves. in front of him, his lieutenant Credo stood, his combat blade out in front of him. next to Credo, Bael read Dante's Oath of Moment.


"Do you, Dante accept your role in this? will you take vengeance to the Ork invaders of this world? do you promise to bring Death to your enemies, and pride to your legion? Do you accept this task, and pledge to do honour to XVI Legion?

Dante grasped the blade with his hand, drawing blood on his ungauntleted hand.
"On this matter and by this weapon, i swear"
Dante took the oath paper, dipped it into the clooting blood, and attached it to his shoulder plate, next to the legion icon.

"Lets do this, brothers. Kill for the Living, Kill for the Dead."

Walking into his new transport Thunderhawk, his old Stormbird destroyed in the campaign against the denizens of Murder, Dante turned to face Credo.

"we must not be overconfindent. although we have faced orks many a time, these seem hugely stubborn, and have held off The White Scars many times."

"Of Course, Captain."

Grinning, Dante walked over to the pilot.
"Lets move."

As one, the Stormbirds and Thunderhawks of The 23rd Company rose, and started towards Malderis. The Wolves were coming.

[Magnus Calpurnius]

The orks had hit the army's line already, not good. Mukuli brought his bike around, and the others in his retinue of bikers did the same. "Tonight brothers, we bring The Emporers righteous fury to the foul greenskins. Leave none alive!" He yelled to his squad, before gunning his engine and charging straight in to the ork horde.

Clearly they hadn't been expecting the Scars to be here, as within the first ten seconds Mukuli and his squad had cut down over two dozen orks. A large one, what the xenos would call a 'nob', appeared right in front of the White Scar captain, a huge axe raised in one hand and a crude pistol in the other. The pistol barked, but did little more than dent Mukuli's prized power armour. The axe swung, but was easily deflected by Mukuli's sword, which then swung back and cut the head from the foul creatures neck.

"Sergeant Chimbai, take Alpha round the left flank, pincer them," Mukuli ordered, "Bravo, with me!" Five of the bikes, including brother Altan with his flamer, roared off, heading round to cut in to the orks from the opposite side. Mukuli and the remains of his squad continued the fight, cutting down orks three at a time. Brother Bartan took a glancing hit that winded him, but recovered quickly. Nonetheless, Mukuli knew that if they didn't end this fight soon, the line would be overun and they'd lose yet more valuable ground, not to mention men, to the ork horde.

Princeps Scaddius waited as the he and his crew made the drop to Malderis inside the Prosterno. The cortical dendrites wired to his cerebral cortex fed him an endless amount of information. Weapon loadouts and ammo count, reactor core heat, the lifesigns of his moderati, all of this flashing and registering inside his mind.

The bond he had with this titan was strong, one of the most intense feelings he ever had. He felt the machine heave and shrug inside it's harnesses, it's very spirit flowing through him making two into one. He was blessed by the Omnissiah to be able to control such a machine, one that had such a strong and tumultous spirit.

The Prosterno was to land no more than a mile away from the fighting. The drop was rugged, even for the pod carrying the Titan. " Moderati Radvult, begin preparation for activation of shields and locomotion systems; Moderati Carnicus prepare combat systems and weapons check."

The hab-block sized pod rocked as it entered the atmosphere, speeding towards the ground below. The retro thrusters came into action to provide a softer landing. With a tremendous thud, the god-machine landed.

The Thunderhawk rattled and rumbled, nosediving through the atmosphere. below, the Ork horde appeared as a green sea, smashing into the the Imperial Line. Dante moved across to the left side of the Hawk, and looked down. like before, the Ork horde smashed into their lines, but Dante saw a patch of white in the vast green. smiling, he realized that the White Scars were in the frontlines.

"Pilot, bring us down as close as you can to the Scars! Landing Zone will be hot!"

a huge thud echoed around the battlefield, audible over even the roar of the Thunderhawks engine. looking out again, Dante saw the a huge pod, about a mile from the battle, land.

"looks like a Titans here" Dante muttered to himself. "pilot, how far are we from Landing Zone"

"We're almost there Captain!"

"Men, get ready! Lupercal!"

The doors of the Thunderhawk opened, about 15ft from the ground. below, the cries of the Orks and the roar of the Scars bike engines sounded.

"Credo! Bael! with me!"

Jumping out of the Thunderhawk, Dante pulled out Rebellion. Laughing, he hit the floor, crushing a Ork under him. instantly, Lucas leapt into the fray, the stunned ork cut down like wheat. pulling out his bolter, he fired, burst after burst kiling orks, many of their heads blown off. Next to him, Dante saw Credo slaughtering orks with his sword and shield, and Bael punching his way through with his giant powerfist. behind them came the rest of Veteran Squad Baldur . hacking another Ork down with Rebellion, Dante, Shouted

"Push them back, give us some breathing space! The rest of our craft need to land!"

around him, Luna wolves fought, executing their orders. Dante disembowled a ork, and started towards the White Scar captain! laughing Dante shouted to him
"Need some help Scar?"

Captain Tiresius almost began to laughe hysterically at the sight of the Luna Wolf transports flying out of the clouds. Even with the help of the White Scars the Imperial line had been on the verge of breaking. Now with fresh troops, fresh Astartes the Imperial troops actually stood a chance.

"Come on men!" yelled the captain, "Just because reinforcements have arrived doesn't mean the battle is over! Keep on them!"

Waving his sword in the air, Tiresius led a fresh platoon of Army troops into the fray.

"Whutz goin on ova dere?" yelled Warboss Claw-thrasha.

"Well boss," began the boy with the seein-fing, "Some of dem big humies just came down from da sky."

Claw-Thrasha let out an angry yell, picked up the boy, and threw him into a nearby trukk.

Turning to the assembled Nobz behind him he roared, "Well? Whatz ya Grotz doin ere Muckin about? Get yer boyz in dere and chop dem humies before I chop you!"

[Magnus Calpurnius]

"Need some help Scar?"

Mukuli turned at the voice, half expecting some insolent guardsmen, but was surprised to see a Luna Wolf. Caught up in the battle, he hadn't even seen the drop ships land.

"Well well, the wolves have arrived," he said, pausing to gut another of the ork nobs, "and not a moment too soon. Welcome to Malderis Captain, I'm afraid we'll have to hold off on the pleasantries for now." He finished, wanting to say more but not having time to as yet another ork rushed him, which he quickly beheaded.

He could just about see even more orks coming in from the horizon. This was going to be a long day. "Captain," he said, turning to the Luna Wolf again, "more orks incoming, the left flank is weakening, the support of you and your men would be greatly appreciated over there." He was careful to make it sound like a request. The planet may have been under Scar control, but he didn't have the measure of the newcomer yet and didn't want to just go giving orders to another marine. He knew from personal experience that many high ranking marines didn't like being ordered around by anyone other than their own commanders.

Besides, he had no official command here anyway. Technically the imperial army commander was in charge, he just often 'agreed' with Mukuli on tactical matters.

Lernard waited as the drop pod slowly opened; a brief flash of light as daylight swept in through the opening. "Moderati Radvult, commence locomotion and proceed to Imperial battlelines. Once clear of the pod activate our shields."

<Princeps, it appears we dropped 1.58 kilometers from the battle. It will take some time before we can safely engage the enemy.> Scaddius thought over Carnicus' words. Damn! The titan was sorely needed in this battle and was needed quickly. " Get me a scan of the battlefield and report enemy strength."

There was a momentary pause when Moderati Radvult broke in,< The greenskins greatly outnumber our troops. White Scars and reinforcements from the Luna Wolves are fighting alongside the Imperial soldiers. Another wave of orks is beginning its charge.>

The Prosterno lurched and began its movement toward the battle. As soon as it left the pod, shields were activated as ordered. "Radvult, open the vox and contact the head of the Imperial army and the White Scars. Ask them where our support would be most appreciated."

Atop the hill the hunters watched the battle. The Greenskins and Imperium forces through themselves at each other incessently with no side gaining any ground. Bullets, missles, bombs, and beams flew through the air as explosions lit up among the combatnants.

Even with the arrival of two groups of Space Marines and a Titan it was obvious that the Imperium couldn't be victorious with their current numbers. They humans would fight on and on, but in the end they would be destroyed in this battle of attrition.

"This is not very intresting." spoke one of the hunters.

"I agree," said a second, "Our talents are waisted here. We should move on."

The leader of the hunters, his black cloak marked with gashes and shots from previous battles, shook his head, "No. We were told to monitor the battle and that is what we shall do. You all know what is at stake here. This might be the planet where the fate of the galaxy will be decided. We all play a crucial part. Our part is here and here is where we will remain."

With that the hunters continued to watch the two races batter themselves against each other.

[Petronius Commodus]

“What are the status?” The serf hastily found out the report “The Orks have struck hard against the Imperial line, they'll lose soon should things stay as they is" Darogor Nodded “Very well then. Is everything prepared?”. “Yes Captain, everything is ready, and the other legions have been forewarned.”
“Good..” Darogor muttered as he entered his drop pod.

Soon his Voice boomed over the Vox, “Now Brothers! We go to WAR!” it was answered with cheers across the hangar.

The specialized Drop pod closed, around Darogor. He could hear as the machine around him began to start up preparing to launch him into the midst of battle. Then sounding as if the Heavens were ripped in half, followed by a shock that felt like the drop pod would burst any second.

It went fast... Darogors only regret was that he wouldn't be there to watch the Green skins, as they assaulted them.

The Shock reached it's peak feeling and sounding like a planet being ripped apart. He tightened his grip on the Chain Axes. Soon... Soon...

As the Doors went down followed by hails of bolter shots from the cannons on the drop pod. He Rushed out Axes raised, Yelling out from the bottom of His Lungs with a roar that echoed across the battlefield. “Beware Green Menace, The World Eaters Has come!”
