General Rules
Posting In Character (IC)
When you post a bio submission type For The Emperor in the 'Have you read the rules' field.
- The admin is always right. The staff at this board have their positions for a reason, and if they decide something, that's the way it's got to be.
- A fight between characters does not translate into a fight between players. Characters will have disagreements and problems with one another, because that's human, but it isn't expected of the players here. Punishment for those who bring petty differences to the board will be swift. Do not take what happens to your character personally.
- Space Marines are always expected to give 110% and the same is expected of all players on the board. Shoddy work will not be tolerated. If all you put up is one or two liners and frequently don't add depth to your posts, you're going to receive a message suggesting you change that. Quality posts are expected from all players.
- You as a player have control ONLY of your character. You cannot write a post where you control another player's character unless you've been given permission. This ranges from determining reactions to something your character said to having characters execute orders you've given them. Players worked hard to write their characters, so let them play them and react themselves.
- Any information you know as a player cannot be known by your character unless your character has specifically been informed or is witness to it. For example, if you as a player know that a squad of characters will be ambushed, you cannot have your character act on that information and warn the squad. Maintain separation between you as a player and your character.
- This game is meant to be fun, so hopefully you'll have some. Don't get upset if your character is killed - that's all just part of being a Space Marine, as is experiencing death in the field of combat. We hope that those whose characters have passed will continue with the RPG with another character.
Posting In Character (IC)
- This is NOT a PG-13 board so profanity is generally tollerated. However, there needs to be moderation, so if your dialogue is needlessly littered with cursing, you may be asked to edit.
- Auto-hitting is strictly prohibited. You fire the weapon, and a GM will tell you if you've been successful. Unless otherwise noted by an admin or a GM, you will not determine the result of your attacks.
- God-moding (a refusal to take damage or show weakness, or purposely writing your character into or out of impossible situations) is also prohibited. If in the course of events your character takes damage, or is put into a specific and/or dangerous situation you must represent that in your posts. For example, if a Game Master Post says your character steps on a mine and loses his foot with an advancing enemy closing in, you can't have your character running around as if nothing has happened or be able to fight his way out of it unscathed.
- After posting with your character, please wait until you've been responded to before posting again. If you fear you've left something vital out, edit before someone gets the chance to respond. This does not necessarily apply if you're taking part in a solo scene.
- Try to keep Out-Of-Character discussion to a bare minimum in In-Character threads. An OOC forum has been set up for that purpose.
- Since a real person can only be at one place at a time, your character may only be in one thread at a time. If you want your character to move from one thread to another, you have to post their leaving the first thread's location, then arriving at the others.
